Salt Generator

Hayward® Chlorine Salt Generator
No more mixing, measuring and messing around with liquid or tablet chlorine again. Now you can automatically turn ordinary salt into a self-regenerating supply of pure chlorine for pool and spa water that’s clean, clear and luxuriously soft.
The 6 Truths of Salt Pool Care
Salt Pool Truth 1
A salt cell generates unstable chlorine which diminishes rapidly when exposed to sunlight UV rays. A product such as SunShield® Stabilizer shields against sunlight to extend the life of generated chlorine and minimize cell run time.
Salt Pool Truth 2
The process a cell uses to convert saltwater into chlorine contributes to high water pH. A pH Reducer corrects high pH to protect surfaces and equipment and will need to be used on a regular basis.
Salt Pool Truth 3
The environment within a cell can cause calcium-scale deposits on a cell’s wall, decreasing chlorine output. A Scale Defender protects against damaging scale A Cell Cleaner removes built-up scale to restore cell to peak performance and should be used once per season.
Salt Pool Truth 4
Chlorine is effective at killing bacteria and algae, but creates unpleasant by-products when it reacts with contaminants like sweat ans sunscreen. You can use the boost setting to shock your pool or use Chlorine-Free Shock Oxidizer to eliminate contaminants for clear, fresh water.
Salt Pool Truth 5
Saltwater pools need to have water balance levels tested on a regular basis just like traditional chlorine pools. The Pool Doctor can perform computerized water analysis but Balance Test Strips should be used for testing at home on a weekly basis.
Salt Pool Truth 6
The amount of salt in a pool and the amount of chlorine being produced are independent of each other. Adding more salt to the water (above what is recommended in the owner’s manual) does not improve efficiency or increase chlorine. Although the chlorine generator checks salt levels, Salt Level Test Strips should be used ensure correct salt levels. At times, recalibration may be necessary and the staff at The Pool Doctor can easily walk you through the process.
